Coastal French

Believe it or not this is just the carriage house of a family compound that's about to start construction on Draper Lake.
The carriage house will set the tone for the rest of the properties. Our design office is working to combine rustic french, modern, and neutral - a classic look and palette for this area but with our own unique touches.
Construction is almost complete and we will keep you posted on the progress.
Here are some images of products we like within this aesthetic and more images of the project.

This bathroom is awaiting sconces and a nickel pea trap but the antique belgian mirror is in place as well as the white calacatta marble slab used on the floor.

Today we received a shipment of necklaces made from found objects for the store. They're a perfect mix of odd and elegant with a dash of pirate, perfect for the bohemian beach girl.

These pictures are of vintage Suzani throws and pillows we have in the store. These embroidered textiles are unique, beautiful, and add a well-traveled and one-of-a-kind element to any space.

(Miles Redd's Pink & Red Living Room)
(From Atlantic-Pacific)

Lately, I've been drawn to combinations of pink and red. In the decision to redecorate my daughter's bedroom we opted for the perfect pink/coral walls with lacquered red doors....
These beautiful paintings by local artist Steve Wagner coordinate with that color scheme using pinks, reds, and yellows.
In painting them he was inspired by Matisse but his other work in the store includes classic and expressionist nude portraits, figure drawings, and cubism.

You can come see his work tomorrow! The day has finally come  and we plan to have a "soft opening" tomorrow,  Saturday March 8th, and will open the doors at 10 AM if you'd like to come see us!

Bardot

At the moment everyone working at Bohlert Massey is a blonde...
In honor of the girls in our office who apparently have more fun, a little blonde style inspiration is in order from the ultimate french bombshell Brigitte Bardot.

Chiaroscuro in Grayton Beach, Florida

This home was an endeavor to create an interior that would reflect and coordinate my client's love of Italian design and a transition from the upper east side of New York City to the beautiful southern dune lakes and beaches of scenic county highway 30-A.  Here is where we are so far!

Pierced Shadow Ball Pendants in unlacquered brass transform this hallway into a light dappled pathway. One of my favorite Art Deco wall papers from Osborne and Little in the powder bath.
A railing I designed for a small stair to the second floor.  The matte acid washed bronze finish against white plaster continues the study in high contrast and neutrals. A plaster surround in the master bedroom eases the transition between the Osborne and Little Chrysanthemum wallpaper and the plaster in the next room.

A guest bath in white marble, unlacquered brass and white plaster.  I love using unlacquered brass - in a couple of years the fixtures will be a soft golden brown living finish. The doors and windows are oversized to maximize the home's gulf and lake views.
Plaster columns that were constructed on site from a simple sketch were designed to look authentically aged over time.  Reclaimed oak beams from north Walton County line the ceiling - leaving pieces of old chipping paint works beautifully with the white plaster surrounding them.

New Construction at Alys Beach

We're excited to be working on a fantastic new project with Alys Beach town architects Erik Vogt and Marieanne Khoury-Vogt and Davis and Dunn Construction.

(Blue Nude, 1902 by Pablo Picasso, Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf, Gritti Palace Hotel, Venice, Italy, Ralph Lauren Lamp, Valentino Fall 2013)

The lamp pictured is a modern interpretation of classic blue and white porcelain, I just love it. We have a pair in the showroom waiting for the doors to open so they can find the perfect home.

My love for this classic combination is genetic - every meal eaten at my grandmother's was served on Blue Willow china and in my mother's kitchen different patterns of blue and white dishes are overflowing from almost every drawer and cabinet.
